The Young and the Innocent
When Ray and I were 'touring' Boston today, we happened upon an anti gay-marriage/gay-civil unions right outside the court house. Ya know, I'm fine with people expressing their own views, as long as their not being stupid about it... but as we were walking around the area we found this bunch of kids around the between the ages of 8 and 10 that were protesting. I'm sorry, but that really bothers me. I feel like at that age you really couldn't know that much about the issue to make that strong of an opinion about something as serious as gay rights. Argh... it just made me so angry! And I think they were there with kids from their school, probably a Christian school because one of the older kids refered to one of the adults they were with as 'Brother so-and-so.' I just, oh I don't know... they seemed to think that it was funny, like they really didn't grasp how serious the situation is and how many people it affects. They only knew what was fed to them by school. Don't do that. Let kids make up their minds for themselves.... and that includes informing them about both sides of the situation, which I'm pretty sure wasn't. Okay. I'm done.
